CBR Test Appratus California Bearing Ratio Test Apparatus (Laboratory)
The CBR method is used for finding the relative bearing ratio
and expansion characteristics of soil of base, sub-base and sub-grade
for the design of roads, pavements and runways. It meets the requirements
of BIS-2720 Part XVI and consists of :
Load frame.
Hand operated capacity 5000 kg.
One CBR Mould
150 mm dia and 175 mm high, complete with base plate and collar
150 mm dia and 50 mm high.
One penetration
Piston face dia 50 mm dia, Bracket.
Displacer
Block 148 mm dia and 47.7 mm long.
Surcharge Weight 5 kg, and 2.5 kg with central hole and also slotted.
Tripod
Cutting collar.
Proving ring,
capacity 1000 kg.
One dial gauge with least count .01 mm.

Bearing Ratio Apparatus (Laboratory Type Motorised). Complete
as above, but supplied with a motorized load frame with rates
of travel of lead screw 0.025 mm/min.; 0.05 mm/min.; 0.0625 mm/min.;
0.125 mm/min.; 0.25 mm/min.; 0.5 mm/min.; 0.625 mm/min.; and 1.25
mm/min.
N.B Universal
Automatic Compactor SS. 12 may be used for compacting the soil
into CBR Mould.
